2nd International Summer School on Artificial Intelligence of the Franco-Moroccan Research Center 2026

Aperçu :

Dans un contexte de transformation numérique accélérée, l’intelligence artificielle s’impose comme un levier stratégique pour répondre aux grands défis sociétaux, économiques et environnementaux. Le Maroc, engagé dans le lancement de projets structurants autour de l’IA et dans la consolidation de son écosystème d’innovation, offre aujourd’hui un cadre particulièrement pertinent pour réfléchir au développement d’une intelligence artificielle inclusive, responsable et ancrée dans les réalités socio-techniques locales et globales.

Cette summer school vise à former une nouvelle génération de chercheurs, ingénieurs, décideurs publics et entrepreneurs capables de concevoir, déployer et gouverner des systèmes d’IA à fort impact sociétal, en tenant compte des interactions complexes entre technologies, institutions, cultures et usages.

Organisée pour sa deuxième édition, cette summer school s’inscrit dans la continuité du succès de l’édition 2025 intitulée “Franco-Moroccan Summer School 2025: Sustainable AI for Accessible Healthcare”, tenue du 7 au 11 juillet 2025 et organisée par Sorbonne Université (Paris, France).

Cette initiative s’inscrit dans le cadre du protocole d’accord relatif à la création d’un Centre de Recherche Franco-Marocain, signé à Rabat en octobre 2024, sous le Haut Patronage de Sa Majesté le Roi Mohammed VI, que Dieu l’assiste, et de Monsieur Emmanuel Macron, Président de la République française.

Ce protocole d’accord associe notamment l’Université Mohammed V de Rabat, l’Université de Lorraine (Nancy), l’Université de Franche-Comté (Besançon), Sorbonne Université (Paris), le CNRS, l’Université Internationale de Rabat et l’Université Ibn Tofaïl (Kénitra).

En s’appuyant sur cette coopération universitaire structurante entre le Maroc et la France, la summer school ambitionne de contribuer à l’émergence de référentiels scientifiques, éthiques et méthodologiques partagés, favorisant le développement d’une intelligence artificielle inclusive, responsable et adaptée aux défis globaux et régionaux.

Overview :

In a context of accelerated digital transformation, artificial intelligence has emerged as a strategic lever for addressing major societal, economic, and environmental challenges. Morocco, actively engaged in launching large-scale AI initiatives and strengthening its innovation ecosystem, provides a particularly relevant setting to reflect on the development of inclusive, responsible, and context-aware artificial intelligence, grounded in both local and global socio-technical realities.

This summer school aims to train a new generation of researchers, engineers, policymakers, and entrepreneurs capable of designing, deploying, and governing AI systems with high societal impact, while explicitly accounting for the complex interactions between technologies, institutions, cultures, and real-world practices.
Organized as its second edition, the summer school builds on the success of the 2025 edition entitled “Franco-Moroccan Summer School 2025: Sustainable AI for Accessible Healthcare”, held from July 7 to July 11, 2025, and organized by Sorbonne University (Paris, France).

This initiative is conducted within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding for the creation of a Franco-Moroccan Research Center, signed in Rabat in October 2024 under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic.
 This Memorandum brings together Mohammed V University of Rabat, University of Lorraine (Nancy), University of Franche-Comté (Besançon), Sorbonne University (Paris), CNRS, International University of Rabat, and Ibn Tofail University (Kenitra).

Building on this structured academic cooperation between Morocco and France, the summer school seeks to contribute to the emergence of shared scientific, ethical, and methodological frameworks, supporting the development of inclusive, responsible, and trustworthy AI systems adapted to both global and regional challenges.
