Abstract

In this paper, an iterative decoding algorithm of product block codes based on the genetic algorithms is presented. We applied this algorithm over a Rician fading multipath channel in CODIT system, to symmetric and asymmetric PBC constructed from BCH and Quadratic Residue codes of rate 2/5 The results show that the proposed algorithm performances outperforms those of the concatenated Reed-Solomon/Convolutional coding scheme proposed in {[}1]. The excellent results obtained in this paper open broad prospects for iterative decoders based on the genetic algorithms.
