This paper presents an improved control of doubly fed induction generator DFIG used in wind energy conversion systems WECS based on the active disturbance rejection control ADRC. In normal condition, the maximization of power converted with MPPT control is studied. Under a symmetrical fault voltage, the behavior of DFIG and its capability to remain connected according to the new grid code requirement are presented. LVRT control scheme applied to the WECS is based on a serial active crowbar resistance and a DC chopper to keep the rotor current and the DC link voltage under their safety value, in addition with the pitch angle control to limit the rotor speed at its rated value. The fifth order model of DFIG and a two mass model of turbine are considered in order to highlight the shaft dynamic. Simulations under Matlab Simulink are presented and discussed. © 2014 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. - All rights reserved.
